Welcome to Indonesia

KOMODO

ALOR

RAJA AMPAT

Our philosophy was to provide a unique diving experience offering a “luxury” diving boat accessible to anyone. After three years of taking inspiration from the best liveaboard around the South East Asia, we believe the mission is a success with Vaiatea.
Inspired by the Polynesian culture, in harmony and respect of nature, Vaiatea will let you explore the best of Indonesia.
Here at the Vaiatea, we have built a charming wooden vessel called a Phinisi. Our vessel is a traditional and magnificent Phinisi, a classic Indonesian wooden sailing vessel set to explore the Indonesian archipelago’s majestic underwater world. All amenities are provided for your comfort on board. We believe that an exquisite service makes all the difference. This personalized service and the undeniable knowledge of your liveaboard features are what differentiate Vaiatea from other liveaboards.
We add a top chef who provides probably the best meal on board a Liveaboard with our restaurant serving international and local cuisine. We added both an outdoor restaurant and a vast top-deck sky lounge for sunbathing, relaxing, and enjoying the island views. Vaiatea Liveaboard, with a total of 18 team members, our 16 guests are ensured absolutely personalized service.
We started this adventure to focus on scuba diving the beautiful Indonesian archipelago with 5-star dive sites. Indonesian waters have it all. Indonesia will offer you the best scuba diving experience, from healthy coral reefs, pelagic, to endemic sandy critter hide-outs.
Home of the Dragon, scuba dive Komodo National park with Vaiatea will let you explore the impressive diversity from macro life such as frogfish and nudibranchs to schooling barracudas, manta rays, sharks, and mola-mola.
Going more East, we explore the untouched reefs of Alor before heading into the Banda Sea to dive into the wonders of Maluku near the Spice Islands. Let’s finish with Raja Ampat and its world-famous gorgonian sea fans, enigmatic wobbegong sharks, and manta rays, and its top biodiversity never encounter.
Our partner, “Dragon Dive Komodo,” expresses our vision of providing quality and comfortable scuba diving activities in Indonesia. From a small diving resort in Labuan Bajo with a PADI 5* IDC dive center operating in Komodo, Dragon Dive provides an unforgettable diving experience at all times to our guests.
Discover for yourself the inspiring, zen, and breathtaking atmosphere unique to Vaiatea Liveaboard!
Welcome onboard.
Vaiatea sails the most beautiful scuba diving destinations in Indonesia. Our Phinisi is the spirit of ancient traditions – equipped with contemporary design, technology, comfort, and safety features. We offer to all our guests the spirit of Indonesia and seeks a unique opportunity to experience scuba diving in the Indonesian Archipelago from a unique perspective.
A liveaboard trip to Indonesia, let you exploring over 17,000 islands and various sub-climates. As Indonesia is large and diverse, our experience lets us offer the right destination combined with the right season.
April–November is the best and most popular season for our land-based and liveaboard destination, with Komodo Liveaboard and Alor, and its crystal clear waters, pink beaches, and untouched coral reef.
However, the Komodo Islands get a little rain compared to Flores mainland and it’s possible to cruise and scuba dive all year round.
The last untouched paradise on earth, Raja Ampat with its turquoise waters and thousands of islands, is the pristine diving destination in the world that has a season from October–April.
The Banda Sea, with its island jewels and hammerhead, is considered best to cruise in October/November and April.
For more remote areas such as Forgotten Island and Banda sea, for macro lovers, some special months have to be considered.
Here at the Dragon Dive, we have built two stunning tailor-made wooden phinisi that give a sip of the local culture but fitted it with all the modern conveniences of everything you need onboard. We designed spacious cabins that invite our guests to enjoy the country they’re visiting. We added a grandiose restaurant room with a chef, a fusion cuisine combining international and local cuisine. We’ve got our inspiration from all the best phinisi around and adding our special unique and famous touch.
We added both an outdoor deck and a top-deck sky lounge for sunbathing, relaxing, and enjoying the island views. Our experience since 2015 in Komodo, with our hotel, let us know all aspects of the region with highly trained local crew and amazingly certified divemasters. We are providing a personalized diving expedition for our 12 guests on Vaitea. As an expert of Komodo waters and yearly present, we focused on diving the untouched and remote scuba diving islands.
Indonesia provides everything from untouched coral reefs to some sandy critters in muck diving, with an absolutely high number of sharks, pelagic and endemic species found only in the “Coral Triangle”.
All of this makes one trip never enough.
Diving Komodo is for an incredible diversity from frogfish and nudibranchs to schooling jacks and mola-mola (oceanic sunfish). After Komodo, we travel to the untouched reefs of Alor and Flores with astonishing islands, volcanoes, and local tribes.
Nitrox onboard :
We have an onboard Nitrox station available. It’s highly recommended for longer NDLs, shorter SIs before the next dive, and less fatigue after repetitive dives/days. We offer Nitrox training for free to non-certified divers (Certification fees to be paid).
If you continue more to the east, we are going to the mystics’ forgotten islands, not dive too much because of the extreme conditions. On top of the forgotten, the ring of fire into the Banda Sea to dive into the wonders of Maluku (and visit the notorious Spice Islands).
At the end of these wonderful trips, we will bring you to the renowned Raja Ampat & Tryton Bay with their world-famous dive sites, wobbegong sharks, and the oceanic manta ray.
